Data Science

The Columbia University Data Science Institute (DSI) serves as the University’s central hub for research, education, and innovation in data science and artificial intelligence. Established to advance interdisciplinary collaboration, DSI brings together faculty, researchers, and students from across Columbia’s schools and departments to develop data-driven solutions to complex scientific, engineering, and societal challenges.

With more than 250 affiliated faculty spanning engineering, medicine, public health, business, climate science, social sciences, and the humanities, the Institute fosters cross-cutting research initiatives and applied partnerships with industry, government, and nonprofit organizations. DSI supports graduate education through rigorous academic programs, industry collaborations, and experiential learning opportunities, preparing students to apply data science methods responsibly and effectively across domains.
